Stripers Running Strong!

August 2, 2016 — Fish Update, Rhode Island

The striped bass fishing around Block Island continues to be strong. The North Rip is producing fish early in the morning and the S/W Corner has larger stripers for those who braved the ground swell that was around all week.  Trolling parachute jigs on wire, tube and worm, and live eels all worked. The fluke, black sea bass and scup bite is outstanding around block island. Easy limits of black sea bass on most days and huge scup up to 18 inches can be caught on clams and squid. The charter boat Maridee II got into some 40 inch Bluefin Tuna on Sunday within 50 miles from Point Judith. Priority Too released a 5-foot Mako and an 8-foot Blue Shark on Monday at Tuna Ridge.
