The Association

The Rhode Island Party & Charter Boat Association (RIPCBA) was founded in 1962 by a group of charter boat fisherman, to this day many of them are still members of the organization.  RIPCBA members have a long tradition of taking adults, children, families and friends to where the fish are for fishing adventures that create a lifetime of memories.

The purpose of the organization is to promote sport fishing, bottom fishing, cruising, sightseeing and diving in a safe, wholesome and environmentally conscious manner. Members work together to share information on fishing areas and techniques, which in turn will help to make your fishing adventure a productive and memorable experience.  Rhode Island is the place to experience the best and most vast variety of fish this region of the county has to offer.  Striped bass, fluke (or summer flounder), bluefish, tautog, tuna, black sea-bass, cod, scup and many other species are targeted by association vessels at various times of the year.

The association provides vacationers, sportsman and fishing adventure seekers of all ages and experience levels, with a list of highly qualified captains and boats that are available for consideration.  Every RIPCBA captain holds a U.S. Coast Guard license and participates in a mandatory random drug program.  All State and Federal safety standards  required of passenger carrying vessels are stressed by the organization with it’s over 65 qualified vessels that sail from a variety of Rhode Island ports. Boats from 18 feet to over 100 feet, which can accommodate groups from 1 to over 50 anglers, are all available.

When you call to make your reservation ask if the vessel and captain belong to RIPCBA and make sure the vessel you sail on displays the R.I. Party & Character Boat Association logo.
